"I'm telling you Grandpa, Trestle downhill is awesome. You've got to come check it out with me?"... "No, I'm sure, it's awesome not scary!"

Well, at least I know where Braedyn gets his wild sense of adventure and small dose of crazy. It most definitely comes from the Davis side of the family. At nearly 70 and fresh out of preschool these two catch quite a few stares and comments on the mountain. They are certainly pushing the age boundaries for downhilling. Grandpa routinely comes back bloody. Braedyn has been instructed by Grandma to take care of Grandpa at Trestles. And daddy says NO blacks with him, which rules out the Trestle downhill run. Braedyn does his job and often yells back, "Grandpa", to which Grandpa responds, with hopefully more than a moan, and Braedyn then says, "just checkin!". Braedyn leads out to wherever his heart desires (other than black runs) and Grandpa follows. I haven't decided which of the two is crazier?!

Cousin Jaron from Manhatten, NY visits Winter Park, CO

Trying to play frisbee golf. It was a little squishy.

Jaron is really not excited about the squishy ground getting her shoes dirty.

Jaron is willing to see what all the craze is about, only to decide it is her 5 year old cuz who is CRAZED!

Love this daddy son pic

Getting ready to take on Trestles Downhill Mountain Bike park

After reviewing downhill for herself, Jaron has decided her little cuz can keep it! One run and she was done. But she only fell once, and I think it just took one bandage to patch her up.

Crested Butte Trip Summer 2011

We went to Crested Butte to visit some friends from California and mountain bike. This was not Braedyn's best bike trip. Two days earlier he had had his mega crash and badly hurt his hand so he couldn't grip his bike handle well at all. His hand really didn't start to look badly bruised until after we got home from Crested Butte. We didn't know how much it bothered him until he tried to use it, at which point we were already at the top of the mountain. Braedyn had really wanted to go mountain biking with his bmx pal, Levi, and he was sure it wouldn't hurt his hand so we gave it a go. But 10 feet from the chairlift I knew it was going to be a long ride down the mountain. After yelling, "owe... owe... owe" the entire way down, because his hand hurt so much, we knew it would be the end of mountain biking for him for awhile. So we stuck with several rounds of mini golf instead. Maybe next year. It looked like an awesome place to mountain bike and so beautiful. God's country for sure!

On the drive there, stopping to throw some rocks in one of CO many overflowing rivers. There were so many waterfalls cascading down the mountains, but I didn't get one single picture so this one will have to do.

Trying to be brave, but really feeling very sad that he couldn't bike like he could 2 days ago.

Forget posing for picures, Braedyn was way to miserable, but we tried anyway. This is the only time I have not seen him happy on his bike.

Another rock throwing stop off on the way home

Just another day on the hill

Some well spent money

Braedyn's helmet has taken some abuse, this summer, with his repeated face plants. Never have I been so thankful for a full face helmet until Trestle Bike Park in Winter Park, CO. It has saved his face with his many trips over the bars while getting in the mountain biking groove. His latest wipe out where he hurt his hand has slowed him down and made him a bit more cautious, which from a mother's perspective is a very good thing. To often this summer, after a major wipe out, he's up and riding again without any hesitation. After he couldn't grip his bike handle for a short time I think it sunk in that he is not superman and he CANNOT always walk away pain free. But regardless of his 'incidents' I have never seen him love his bike more, and that is saying something, because this kid loves to ride and fly through the air!
