More Racing

We headed to OrangeY BMX for a day of racing last weekend. Braedyn had a lot of fun checking out a new track and going with some of his buddies. There was a professional photographer there that got a few good shots of Braedyn

2011 Rincon Classic

This weekend was the 2011 Rincon classic surf competition. Mike and Braedyn rode bikes down to Rincon, from our house, with some of Mike's friends for some fun surf watching. Braedyn had his ears covered most of the time. He did not care for the fog horn.

Although Braedyn is a relatively skilled bike rider, we did not think it wise to have him ride on a skinny single track, which follows the cliffs, down to rincon. So he hitched a ride with daddy. The track gets mighty close to the edge in some places and, well, he is only 4. I feel he takes plenty of risks on his bike already. Why throw the potential of falling off a cliff into the ocean into the equation?!

A field of flowers along the way.

Camping at the state beach park in Carpinteria, CA

There is something awesome about falling asleep to the surf. When the surf is big you can hear it from our back yard and in our house when the windows are open. But even better is camping less than 100 feet from the beach. This is how my boys ruffed it last weekend. Hot dogs, smores, and campfire stories, all to the sound of crashing surf!

BMX

Mike was playing with the burst mode feature on our camera and got these fun shots of Braedyn and his first love, bmx.

Elings Park Team Picture (with attitude)

Braedyn was having some serious "attitude" for this picture, actually the entire morning! He did NOT want to participate, at all, in the taking of this picture. This is the only shot where he is sorta smiling, yet still trying really hard not to be. The only good thing about this morning was it led to a 3 hour nap, which he almost never does anymore.

Yes, my child has attitude!

Tree House

Braedyn has been listening to the 'Magic Tree house' series on audio book so he wanted to build a tree house, why not? The discovery of audio books came at the tail end of naps so it has worked out perfectly. Now he listens to stories in his room for an hour while he plays quietly. Usually he plays puzzles during this time. Best of all there is huge selection of audio books at the library for FREE. Love that.

We let him paint his tree house with his paints. But frequently he would take breaks because he "needed to get some exercise". SO of he would ride on his bike to do a few jumps and then he would return to painting.

We ran out of paint, so water colors sufficed. (hence the miniature paint brush) This took much longer to cover any ground, but he didn't seem to care.

In a Blur

This is how most pictures I take of Braedyn turn out. If he keeps up this fast paced childhood of his I may have to take a few lessons in photography to ever get a good picture of him. This is a kid who like to keep his WHOLE body in motion MOST of the time.

A few of his favorites...

Uncle Isaac and Jana gave Braedyn this 100 piece solar system puzzle and I think he has put it together 20+ times already. He has really been 'into' puzzles lately. And I love them because he will do them by himself for quite some time.

Elings park team jersey with his name. (love that morning hair ball)

....and of course his ramps.
