Braedyn has been doing Kindermusik since he was one. He got to be part of the recent graduation ceremony at our current Kindermusik class in Santa Barbara.

Santa Barbara Tea Fire Benefit Concert
On Sunday there was a small local music festival that was a benefit concert for some people who got hurt in the recent Tea Fire in Montecito. We headed out after church and caught a majority of the show. Braedyn loved all the music & dancing, and there was even a display of fire engines and a rescue helicoptor! We ran into a lot of people we knew from town and church and also ran into a friend from work, Ben and his girlfriend. Ben plays with Braedyn so much every time he sees him that Braedyn just loves him and talks about him forever afterwards.

Kindermusic Santa Barbara
Well another Kindermusic semester is over. Braedyn really had a lot of fun this year with Miss Kathy as the instructor. He got a lot more involved in the class than he has in the past and had a lot of favorite songs and instruments. He knows pretty much all the words to all of his Kindermusic songs now, and pretty much all the other music he listens to as well. He amazed me the other day by singing a reggae song of a local reggae band out of the blue. The music is on his Zune player and he's just picked up the words. We don't even know the words, so now we just ask Braedyn what the song says...

California Avocado Festival
The rage of Carpinteria this weekend was the California Avocado Festival. It is 3 days of celebrating the avocado with a bunch of bands, questionable, expensive food, interesting vendors, and a lot of people from out of town. We went Friday night after swimming for "locals night" and caught some of our favorite local bands including Dominic Balli who is also the music leader at our church here in Carp. It was quite a bit of fun, and the guacamole was really good!

Reality Carpinteria
We've been attending a local church here called Reality! It is just a short bike ride from our home in Carpinteria. This particular Sunday was the 5 year anniversary of the church so they had church outside, down at the Carpinteria State Beach Park. Braedyn has been talking about Outside Church ever since, luckily they are having another outside service for the Avacado festival in a couple weeks. This was a great service with good music, message, and a BBQ with bouncy castles afterwards.

Zoo-B-Q
The Santa Barbara zoo held the annual Zoo-B-Q and so we headed back to the zoo for an evening of checking out the animals, eating some other grilled animals, and then listening to Hot Lava (Rock Music for Kids). Hot Lava does quite the reved up version of Wheels on the Bus and Green Eggs and Ham but Braedyn loves it. He usually comes home and rocks out on his little drum set for about 30 minuts, VERY LOUDLY!! It was a nice second visit to the zoo. There were lots of animal characters walking around, some bouncy castles, and some little mini plays happening on stage. But the music was the highlight for Braedyn who had lots of other kids dancing with him tonight!

Karaoke
Well the music was terrible, but it had a beat so Braedyn had a blast. We had headed to a Carpinteria local pizza Joint, Giovanni's Pizza, and wound up in the midst of local Karoke night! There certainly we're no potential American Idol winners there this night, but Braedyn drew some cheers for his dancing ability. And the Pizza was pretty good too!

Kids concert in Kirkland
This was one of Talisha's last meet ups with her MOPS group in Redmond. They met at the Marina Park in Kirkland to hear a childrens concert. Braedyn loves live music of any kind so he got right in the center of the pack to show off his moves. Then we walked the short distance over to lake washington to practice another favorite past time of Braedyn's, rock throwing. We had just gotten back from Santa Barbarbra a few days before so I think he still had warm weather and beach images floating through his mind when he waeded into the water up to his waist fully dressed (pants and shoes) before mom got a hold of him. Not to mention it was about 60 degress, maybe, that day but he didn't seem to notice. Talisha got cold though fishing him out.

Hot Lava
We headed to the Padaro Beach grill in Carp for dinner and they had a live band playing there just for kids. The band was called Hot Lava, they sang different kids songs to a little more upbeat tune! Braedyn absolutely loved it and we could barely get him to sit down to eat any food. He was running around, dancing, and trying to take over the lead guitarist's spot on stage.
