Slack line

Mike got a slack line for the back yard since Braedyn likes to balance so much, on everything! It's as close as we are going to get to a back yard swing set. Braedyn's love for balancing on things (curbs, bathtub edges, hand rails) is possibly why he wanted to learn to ride a bike so young. The kid does have impressive balance. Maybe if we had invested in the traditional swing set, which we never did, he could properly pump a swing by now. Every kid has their thing.

The kid in daddy.

It seems every close up I get of Braedyn lately he has food in his mouth. Proves we really do feed him I guess.

Race Day

While the grandparents where in town Braedyn got to do his first bmx race. There wasn't much turn out for the 5 and under class so he raced against a 6 and 7 year old novice. He had a blast and was so proud of his 3rd place trophy. The rest of us enjoyed sitting in the sun watching him work up a sweat. I have no idea if this is a sport he will stick with, but he sure does love it for now. Strange to me that he can not play T ball until age 5, but nobody cares if he speeds around a dirt track with hills so steep I can't walk up them!

Off to school we go!

Braedyn's friend, Ruby, rode to school with us last Wednesday. She was a little nervous to get on the tow a bike attached to Mike's, but once on life was all good. Braedyn had to lend her his helmet so that left him with his BMX helmet. He loved having a reason so wear it!

Mountain Lions!!! I'm outta here....

When we first arrived I saw this sign and told Braedyn casually there were Mtn. Lions in the area (WRONG THING TO DO). He than asked what Mountain Lions where and I said, not thinking clearly, "big growly things" (Again THE WRONG THING TO DO). Than my dad, trying to fix the situation, took him to the sign that talked about them. After starting to read the sign he quickly started deleting and adding more friendly comments about these dreaded mountain lions. Long story short we had some major mountain lion trauma, but finally recovered after seeing all the other kids going on the hike. The entire way there Braedyn had to ask everybody coming down the trail if they saw any mountain lions? Fortunately, the answer was a resounding NO. Shew, I didn't want to meet any mountain lions either, especially after really reading that sign! Good thing that waterfall was worth the initial fear:)

I survived the mountain lions!!

Waterfall Hike in Nojoqui Falls County Park, Solvang, CA

Mema and Papa are in Carpinteria for a visit so we headed up to Solvang for a day trip. Solvang is a beautiful little city nestled in the Santa Ynez Valley of California. It was very green country side this time a year. While we spent some time in town, we spent much of our day at this park and waterfall. Braedyn is not much of a shopper these days! Fortunetly, neither is his momma (especially with a 4 year old, who would rather be at the waterfall, in tow!).

Braedyn and Marek

itty bitty ramps

Braedyn has befriended the next door neighbor boy who is 8. Quite the age span, 8 and 4, but they get along amazingly well. Do I dare say that I even let him take a bike ride in the neighborhood with his new friend(s) alone! Relax they stayed on the sidewalks and I did follow, loosely.
