Some well spent money

Braedyn's helmet has taken some abuse, this summer, with his repeated face plants. Never have I been so thankful for a full face helmet until Trestle Bike Park in Winter Park, CO. It has saved his face with his many trips over the bars while getting in the mountain biking groove. His latest wipe out where he hurt his hand has slowed him down and made him a bit more cautious, which from a mother's perspective is a very good thing. To often this summer, after a major wipe out, he's up and riding again without any hesitation. After he couldn't grip his bike handle for a short time I think it sunk in that he is not superman and he CANNOT always walk away pain free. But regardless of his 'incidents' I have never seen him love his bike more, and that is saying something, because this kid loves to ride and fly through the air!

The day my family tried to kill me!

About the only runs we won't let Braedyn do are double blacks even though he really wants too. He settled for a picture. Maybe next year!

Me going around something gnarly looking. The boys, of course, headed straight towards it and then came back to take a picture of pokey mommy.

Making my boy proud!

Skate park

Winter park has a really nice, clean, skate park. Braedyn has made a lot of friends there already this summer. It's his second favorite thing to do. He is taking a beginner skate session through the rec center. They meet two mornings a week for an hour. He still prefers his scooter, but he is making progress on the skateboard. We'll see if it sticks after the lessons. It's not as much fun for him as his scooter or bike because he can't do it very well. He likes the skate sessions because the instructors make it really fun and cool and there are a few kids his age.

Resort fun

Braedyn loves a good round of putt putt after a few downhill sessions with dad.

Fraser River

Just down the hill from where we are staying is the Fraser River. There are some great little running/hiking trails and lots of rocks around to throw in. The river is overflowing its banks due to the high snow pack and the warm weather we've been having lately. We've had a lot of fun checking out the sights along the river and have done our best to avoid any encounters with moose.

Mountain Biking

Pretty much every day at lunch time Braedyn and Daddy head over to Trestles Bike Park at Winter Park resort for some afternoon muddy, fun! Riding the park is a quick way to get some biking in. We take the lift up and then point the tires downhill. Braedyn has been doing really great at making the switch from BMX to mountain biking. He has his share of wipeouts, but he gets right back on the bike and wants to get going. The best part for him is that there are jumps all over the place and there are tons of different trails so he gets to choose where we go each day. That is except for the double black runs that he has been begging to go down. We've drawn the line at single blacks for now....

Heading up to the top on the Zephyr Express Lift.

Heading down Long Run, a blue run with lots of fun wooden features.

The Boulevard near the bottom, this is a black run that Braedyn loves. It's steep and fast with some fun little turns and jumps.

One of the wooden features, a turning wall ride.

Small bridge over one of the many creeks on Shy-Ann, a blue run from the top.
