Desert Bmx. Phoenix AZ
We took a road trip to Phoenix, AZ for a friends wedding. Braedyn's bike and Dori, our dog, made the trip with us. We checked out two tracks while we were there to give Braedyn some energy burning outlets before sitting through a wedding. Between the hotel water park and bmxing in 90+ degree heat he was very calm, cool and collected for the wedding. It was the perfect spectator weather at dusk but he was HOT, sweaty, dirty, and smelly. Braedyn has no idea how good he has it bmxing in So Cali with nearly 70 degree weather year round.
Manualing the table top (his favorite thing to do in bmx). He cares more about the style of riding right now than he does winning. So be it, he's 5.

Charlie the Monkey
Charlie is a stuffed monkey that went home with each of the blue group kids at Lou Grant over the past 5 months. Charlie goes on adventures with the kids and then they go back to school with pictures and tell all about the things they did with Charlie. So...
Charlie and Braedyn walk the dog
they sleep together (kinda gross, but I got past it)
make pancakes together
and how could they not bmx together. (Charlie was strapped on the front of his bike)

Eldora Ski resort
On our last visit to Boulder we drove up to Eldora ski resort to check it out. This will be one of Braedyn's new hang out zone's next year. I have a feeling he is going to love the terrain park. Eldora offers a ski program 2 afternoons a week for 5 and 6 year olds. Fortunately for Braedyn, kindergarten only goes until 12:30. Once first grade hits he may have to ditch now and then for the sake of the slopes (I seriously doubt he is the first kid in Boulder to do that).

Lou Grant Field Trip #2 continued
Taking in the gorgeous view on another gorgeous day in Carpinteria. I have decided there are way to many gorgeous days in Carp. They really should be spread around the country a bit better.
Why walk when you can run. (spoken a moment to soon)
This was the start of our very long walk back to school. Actually it was only about 6 blocks. BUT you would think I had asked Braedyn to walk to Kansas! This is the kid who would ride his bike to the Moon and back for pure FUN, but expect him to walk....oh no. I think he was the only 5 year old who asked to be carried, more than once. This would be the one downside to attending this field trip. I'm quite confident he would not have asked anyone else to carry him. Don't worry. I absolutely did NOT carry his 5 year old self 5 blocks.
Fortunately for me there were some fun stop offs on the way back to provide a wee bit of motivation.
Who doesn't love a George in the jungle moment on a palm branch. At this point our walk back had greatly improved and we were oh so close, although lagging!
ah memories.

Lou Grant Field Trip #2
Blue group is huge this year so only 1/3 of the kids can go each day. That makes for a lot of field trips in a week.
Waiting for the good old, not so timely, Carp trolley.
Braedyn and I on the trolley. We wound our way through town and ended up at the Salt Marsh.
Walking the balance beam (otherwise known to adults as a rock wall) at the salt marsh.
