Hiking Santa Cruz Island

Hiking on the islands
Our hike on the Channel Islands took us from the campgrounds up a short hill to an amazing overlook above the Pacific ocean. Braedyn walked a good portion of the entire hike and really had a lot of fun. The views here were spectacular.

Channel Islands
When we got to the island and got off the boat we hung out near the shore for awhile throwing some rocks in and then headed in for a short guided hike. On the way up to the campground we found some fun little caves that Braedyn loved to climb into.

Channel Islands
One of the great places out here that we've been wanting to go visit is the Channel Islands National Park just off the coast from where we live. Since Mema and Papa were out we took Monday and made the trip down to Ventura to catch a boat out there for the day. The boat trip out was pretty fun, but got a little rough. It made daddy get a little nautious, but Braedyn just went to sleep. We spent the day hiking around and throwing rocks in to the ocean and then headed back in the afternoon. On our trip back we were greeted by hundreds of dolphins playing around our boat jumping all around, it was quite the sight!

New Toys
With the coming of grandparents also comes plenty of gifts. It was an early Christmas this year as we'll be far away, but Braedyn has been enjoying it already. A little 4 wheeler and a basketball hoop will provide hours of fun. He's already got the 4 wheeler figured out pretty well.

Bike Ride
Mema and Papa are in town for a short visit so we took them out to tour the town on beach cruisers. We went all through town, down by the beach, out along the bluffs park and back home. It was quite a trip and everyone was ready for a little rest afterwards.

Low Tide
The low tide was timed just perfect for our beach run after work and it was down to a real low level. We played for awhile and then went for a little bike ride out on the hard sand.

Beach
Although it seems like we only have pictures of the beach lately we really do other things... But our Thursday night tradition has been to head to the Farmers market and beach after work. We have lots of fun there with just our small little family and we usually have the beach mostly to ourselves!

Pumpkins
Talisha's MOPs group headed to a pumpkin patch in Santa Barbara this week. There was lots to do and see including giant pumpkins, wagons, a hay pit, and a Hay ride.

Art
Braedyn has been in an art class on Tuesday's after music class since we moved here. He's really been getting into painting and drawing so we started painting with him more at home as well. I can't decide if he just likes the mess it creates or enjoys the pictures he creates. But no matter what it is he certainly has a lot of fun. We set up a picture wire in the upstairs hallway to display his pictures so that we can see them all for a longer time.
